Hiatus

I'm very sad to do this... but unfortunately I have to declare a hiatus until I finish my thesis. Otherwise it will be impossible for me to concentrate. Wish me luck! :)

Singapore... Here I Come!!!

I'll be leaving to Singapore this afternoon! Woohoo! I'm so excited :D

Especially because we're going to see The Phantom of The Opera. I've seen West Side Story, Grease and Cabaret as a live performance before (all also while I was in Singapore) and I love the feeling of seeing live musicals. Now, The Phantom of The Opera... I saw the movie and loved it! In fact I sang 'Think of Me' in a musical performance last year. I can't wait to see it live!!

And then there's also the fact that I just plain and simply love being in Singapore. And the fact that I might be able to see my friends - including the guy I had a serious crush on. But I'm not getting my hopes up on that, it's not that important anyway.

So yeah, if I'm not updating, you know where I am ;)

Thursday Thirteen - 5th Edition

Thirteen Things Inside My Bag

Well, thanks to my lecturers and my university's internet connection I couldn't post this earlier. I did however managed to get all the endings for Cute Knight! YAAY!! I also found out that this game is actually based on a Japanese game called Princess Maker, which seems a whole lot more interesting. Yet for the sake of my thesis, I shall refrain from downloading it until my thesis is finished.

Okay, back to my TT for this week. Originally I wanted to post up 13 things I miss about Singapore since I'm going there this saturday (yeps, 2 days to go! Woohoo! I can't wait!) but because of how much I love my new bag (see yesterday's entry) I decided to do Thirteen Things Inside My Bag, instead. This list is of course very subjective as at any given time I could have more or less items inside my bag.

First of all, allow me to introduce you the lovely bag itself:

And here's what's inside it:

1. Hair Accessories

A major necessity ever since I got my haircut. Usually I could easily tie my hair up in a bun without any props. But now I need the scrunchie/ponytail holder for whenever it gets hot or I'm having a bad hair day. Meanwhile, the hair clips are useful for a quick fix when I need to look more sophisticated/pretty/you get what I mean.

2. Make-up Kit

I'm not fond of make-up, so as you can see... my make-up kit is small and contains next to nothing that could actually qualify as proper make-up. AND I hardly use them, too. So, I have a small bottle of perfume, a Revlon lip gloss in Pink Afterglow, a Lip Smacker liquid gloss in Strawberry Kiwi, a Body Shop lip butter in coconut, a hair brush cum mirror and Clean&Clear Oil Control Film.

3. Pencil Case

Extremely important to me is this pencil case, because you never know when you need to write something down. And it's also very helpful at Sunday School since most of the kids in my class always seem to forget their pens and have a tendency to ask me for pens. There's the lovely Mark&Note Post-It thingie, 5 pens (3 of them from the same make and 3 of them in black - though this might change soon since I no longer go to campus so I'll probably put some more colourful items in) and 1 mechanical pencil with extra lead.

4. Speck

Well, that's what I call my cute lil iPod guy. He's a 8GB new generation iPod. The casing, BTW, was one of the reason I wanted an iPod so bad. Hahaha. Speck is actually the brand of this casing. Since it's printed on his back, I figured might as well call him that. Next to Speck is my beloved Sennheiser headphones which I ripped off bro's Nokia N91.

5. My Organizer

This blue book is where I write down all my appointments, to-do-list, and what-nots. Originally I used a free diary from a magazine to do this function, but it was too big and then I landed my hands on this blue book. It's actually a note book so I have to draw in the lines and everything, but I love it. The teddy bear on the cover is actually a glow in the dark sticker which I pasted on to add some cuteness ;P

6. Handphones

My Samsung E-870 and X-820, the loves of my life. Actually I used to carry 3 phones, the other one being a Samsung E-640 (read yesterday's post as well). If you're wondering why, it's because one is a post-paid number which is a very special number because it's made of my birth date, which is my main number and I use for everything and everyone, and the other one is pre-paid number which gives 100 free SMS/per day which I mainly use to SMS with my mom. My Samsung E-640 used to hold my old pre-paid number from a different operator which also has my birth date within the numbers.

7. My Wallet

Perhaps the most important thing inside my bag. I could go out of my house without all the other stuff but not without my wallet. This wallet holds my money, ID cards of all kinds, credit cards, ATM cards, membership/discount cards and also some namecards. This particular wallet was a bonus from UK's Sugar magazine, which I bought just because I wanted the wallet. I was looking for a new wallet because I got bored of my old one, and I just love the colour of this one. I'm not sure you can see this, but the zipper has a drawing of a bear hanging on it which I got from my ex. Recently I also put up a sticker at the front, again... a cute lil bear :)

8. Keys

Hanging on another cute bear keychain are all my keys. I used to have more keys there, now there are only 5 of 'em, I think. All are in different colours (blue, purple, gold, red and the usual silver). I also have my USB flash disk hanging here, as you can see.

9. Mints

Essential for fresh breath or simply to kill boredom. This one is a box of mini Polo mints, but I always have different kinds of mints/candies in my bag. Sometimes even more than one kind.

10. Sunglasses/Shades

Hardly use them, actually. But since there were times I regret not having them with me, I carry them around at all possible times. Again, you never know when they might come in handy.

11. Tissue

Actually, I was never used to carrying tissues with me. For some reason I keep forgetting them. And my mom used to get mad at me because I keep asking her for tissues. Now I almost always carry tissues with me, both dry and wet ones, except when they ran out along the way. I guess this particular habit developed in Singapore. So far I've learned that having tissues in your bag makes guys consider you more feminine thus make them treat you more lady-like (seriously!) - especially when they need those tissues. Hahah :D They're very important for personal use at times too, though. So yeah, you probably won't catch me without tissues in my bag, ever.

12. Book

Again another habit I nourished in Singapore, although I recall I carried around books with me ever since I was a kid, always carry a book in your bag. It is very useful for when you are waiting for someone/something or when you're in the public transportation OR when you don't want to be disturbed (like at a cafe or something). Plus the book can make a great conversation starter too, if used correctly ;)

13. Camera

Last but not least, my digital camera. Well, what you see here is just the case because I was using the camera, but you get my point. Again, you never know when you need to take pictures. Like when you meet some cute lil kid or when the sun is shining and the clouds are oh-so-pretty. Of course, both my handphones are equipped with cameras... but my digital camera, A Casio Exilim EX-Z850, which I bought in Singapore, has 8.1 megapixels. Extreme clarity, wonderful lighting, not to mention a bunch of functions enough to keep a bunch of guys, either gadget freaks, photo freaks, or just narcissistics amazed for a long time! Ah, how I love my digital camera :-*

PS: For some added fun, try and figure out how many teddy bear related stuff (including all stickers) I have in my bag! :)

It's been a while...

Here's some updates I just realized I haven't blogged about:

1. On Saturday (14/04) I joined a Yoga class. It was a lot of fun, and as a result I've been doing some Yoga with the help of videos the last few days. I am totally enjoying it.

2. After the Yoga class we went for lunch at Gang Gang Sullai, which is a Korean BBQ and is supposed to be good because it's very popular, but I honestly didn't like it. Plus the service sucked too, we had to wait half an hour for a small scoop of ice cream. D'oh. Full review pending, but will probably go to my Indonesian blog.

3. A review for another Indonesian book I just finished reading is also pending for my Indonesian blog.

4. Monday (16/04) was my mom's b'day :)
We went to Pepper Lunch at Plaza Senayan for Dinner. It was AWESOME!! :9 Of course, once again, review pending. I promised to buy her dinner at Oscar's next Sunday (we're going to Singapore on Saturday), and also gave her this teddy bear magnet which I hand painted. She requested my handphone - the one I bought second-handed in Singapore from this guy I had a crush on :-*- as a present as well and after some considerations I agreed. I haven't given it to her though, and I'm still having a real hard time about it :(

5. Yesterday I skipped campus because I was so freakin' bored with all those lectures and considering this is the last week, oh well.

6. In the afternoon the choir was scheduled to sing at the Easter Celebration of churches in Jakarta. There were over 2000 people present including the vice govenor, and I got to sing a solo part! It was surprising that I wasn't nervous at all and it flowed so easily. I like to think it was all God's work, of course.

7. I went to Indonesian Heritage Society's library this morning and returned home with a bunch of books for my thesis work. I seriously think I'm drowning myself in books without having any real work done. It's so sad, but I can't really help it.

8. After that mom and I went shopping, and she bought me a new Starbucks Bearista, this time from the Destination Series for Indonesia. I also got a new handbag which is silver and has a picture of a smiling young woman printed in black and white on both sides. And I'm happy :D

Friday's Feast 139 - 4th for me

Appetizer
When you were a child, which crayon color was your favorite?
--> Hmm... I don't really remember, but a quick look at my 'masterpieces' that mom kept reveals... it's brown!

Soup
On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being highest), how likely would you be to change jobs if it required you to move?
--> 5, I guess. It really depends on where to, but I probably wouldn't mind.

Salad
Take all the numbers in your birthday and your phone number and add them up, one by one. What’s the total?
--> 75 :D

Main Course
Have you ever “re-gifted” anything? If so, what was it and who did you pass it on to?
--> I think I have, several times. What I remember the most: a stuffed puppy, which I gave to a choir member's lil girl.

Dessert
Name something you need from the store.
--> Right now? Chocolate. I could use some teddies too. It's been a while. Hahah :P

On Cute Knight...

I just realized that this game probably isn't that popular, hahah. Okay, here goes:
Cute Knight aka Kishi Kawaii is an RPG sim game where you play an orphaned girl searching for your destiny. There are about 54 different endings possible, ranging from beggar to royal family, from street dancer to mage... all depending on what you do during the game and there are random events generated, so the game is highly replayable. It is actually a very simple game and what you do is just click around the screen. Not so much action or anything, but still very addictive.

If you're interested, check out its website at Hanako Games. And when you're stuck, cheats and tips/tricks are available on the net, just google it!
There's a new version, Cute Knight Deluxe coming out soon. Oh, how I wish I could get it. But I didn't purchase the game from the net and nor will I ever, so yeah, it's gotta wait. Give it a try, but be careful... it's addictive! You've been warned...

Thursday Thirteen - 4th Edition

Thirteen Things You Can Learn From Playing Cute Knight

1. Exercise, even though it burns you out fast when you're doing it, in the long run increases your stamina.
2. If you're new in town, nobody will want to talk to you. However, after a while and if you're charming enough, you'll meet a lot of great people!
3. If you're sinful, especially if you pickpocket a lot, it shows... and people will run away from you. And it will be hard to get a permanent job.
4. If you pursue a particular task whole heartedly, you will succeed.
5. Reading books will give you a wealth of knowledge.
6. It is important to go to a learning institution.
7. It is a sin to kill a thinking being.
8. Giving donation and doing social work will decrease your sin, but nothing gets rid of sin like praying to God.
9. Once you become better known, people wil give you better paying jobs.
10. Money is important, but you can survive without it.
11. It is sometimes difficult and complicated to get to a better future.
12. Never give up! Don't let go of your dreams... because when you do, you will never ever be anything at all, and you end up wondering your whole life whatever would happen if you didn't give up.
13. If all else fails... get some help! :D

New blog... in Indonesian

Yeps, I just launched a new blog, my Indonesian blog. The reason for this is actually a book I read yesterday, 'dan hujan pun berhenti...'
It was an awesome book and the only way I can make justice to its review is to write in in Indonesian. Hahah.

So if you speak Bahasa Indonesia, come and check out 'Ssst... ini rahasia...' - Ssshhh... this is a secret... ;)

Bad News

The mother of one of my classmates died this morning because of meningitis, which was misdiagnosed at first and thus hard to treat and it was pretty much 'expected' that she'd die. But it's still a blow anyway.

Personally I really don't know what to do when I hear that someone's someone died. I mean, yeah, sure we say our condolences, then what? The truth is I always feel terrible for not feeling terrible. But then again what use is it to feel terrible? As a Christian especially, death is something that releases us from earthly pain (especially in cases like severe illness) and is also planned by God's hands. How does feeling terrible make any difference except to make things worst??

Yet I know if something like this happens to me I'll be feeling terrible. So there goes all my confusion about this matter :(

May God bless my friend and her family in their time of loss... may they find peace that is from God above 0:-)

Ouch.

I missed this week's TT as well as the Feast! How sad... :(

I could use our choir's activity as a reason for not blogging, but I'll be true to myself and admit it's because I've been playing too much of Cute Knight, which is very addictive because of the various events and especially the various available ending. And so even though I could list at least 13 life lessons you can learn from playing it, I shall hereby ban myself from playing this game. At least until I finish my thesis. And before finishing my thesis, a nearer deadline is for the chuch magazine, and even nearer is to clean up the mess I call my room. So there. NO MORE CUTE KNIGHT UNTIL AUGUST!

Bloated?

Have you ever felt bloated? I am right now. And this is really extreme case bloated-ness (if there is such a word). It not only makes me feel ugly, it also makes me feel hot (that's I-sweat-a-lot-hot) and lazy! And I mean VERY lazy, even my mind feels numb.

Does anyone have a cure for this? I feel terrible!

Anyways, I do have some work done, namely I submitted an entry to Concept's cover design competition though I am almost certain that I won't make it, but hey, submitting it gives a 50-50 chance, right? ;)

And I also did the design for the class t-shirt (well, polo shirt) to be exact, and I've sent the subscription form for Jollie magazine as well. So I guess I wasn't being so lazy after all... :)
